Report: Sling Media's Blake Krikorian Passes Away
Blake Krikorian, the UCLA graduate who founded Sling Media, the maker of the Slingbox, has died, at the age of 48, according to reports trickling out of Silicon Valley. Krikorian apparently died of a heart attack yesterday in the San Francisco area. Krikorian had received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA in 1990, and also played on UCLA's Men's Water Polo team. He moved to Silicon Valley after graduating from UCLA, but was also well known in Southern California's technology community.

j2 Global Revenues Rise To $211.8M In Q2
Los Angeles-based J2 Global said on Wednesday that its revenues increased to $211.8M in Q2, up 20.3 percent from last year, as its continues to have a significant piggyback of cash and investments for its acquisitions. Evofem Raises $25M
San Diego-based EVOFEM, a biotechnology firm developing new contraceptives for the women's reproductive health market, announced this morning that it has raised $25M in a Series D funding round. The funding came from Woodford Investment Management. According to the company, the funding goes towards clinical and commercialization infrastructure, plus its current pipeline of technology. Cylance Expands Consulting Services

YouMail Launches New Conference Calling Service
Irvine-based YouMail, which provides enhance voicemail and other related services, has launched a new, free conference call service, directly linked to a person's phone number, the company said on Tuesday. According to the company, led by Alex Quilici, it is now providing all of its users with a free conference calling number--the user's own cell phone number. Interlink Electronics Names New Sales, Marketing VP
Westlake Village-based Interlink Electronics, which develops force sensors and other related products, says it has named Mark Litecky as Vice President of Sales and Marketing at the company. Litecky has previously served at Rosemount Inc. (Emerson Process Controls), NT International (Entegris), August Technology (Rudolph Technologies), Starkey Labs, and Soligie (Molex). Interlink said Litecky spent the last seven years in the printed electronics space, and has a 28-year career.
