Report: SpaceX's Mars Budget More Than $300M
A set of recent reports say that Hawthorne-based SpaceX is planning to spend more than $300M to deliver its Red Dragon spacecraft to Mars. NASA will be contributing another, $32M in staff hours and technical hours to support SpaceX in its efforts, according to those reports. The NASA efforts apparently will tap into the staff at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, who will apparently assist SpaceX in plotting its trajectory to Mars.

NextVR Gets $80M In Series B
Laguna Beach-based virtual reality technology developer NextVR has raised $80M in a Series B funding round, the company announced this morning. Woven Digital Inks Deal With Coors Light On New Series
Los Angeles-based digital media company Woven Digital says it has inked a partnership with Coors Light, to launch a new series on its UPROXX site, called "HUMAN LIMITS". Woven Digital said the new series will "exploration of our limitations as human beings and the stories of those individuals who have defied them." myDevices Links With Arduino
Los Angeles-based myDevices, which develops a software platform aimed at developers of connected devices, said it has integrated its software with the popular Arduino open source software and hardware project. According to myDevices, it has connected its Cayenne cloud service to Arduino, letting device builders easy create web dashboards or smartphone apps based on data from Arduino devices. myDevices' platform pulls data from sensors on connected devices into a visual dashboard. Semtech Sale Of IP To Rambus Completes
Camarillo-based Semtech has completed a deal to sell of a bundle of IP assets to Rambus, in a sale that was worth $32M, Rambus said Monday afternoon. The deal, announced in June, included's Semtech's Snowbush IP business, which primarily included SerDes (serial/deserialization) cores used in ASICs, Systems-on-a-chip (SoC), and other platforms. Rambus said that the assets become part of its Memory and Interfaces Division.

Tongal Names Strategy Head
Santa Monica-based Tongal, which operates an online, content crowdsourcing site focused on video, has named a Vaughan Emsley as its new Head of Strategy and Client Development. Emsley was most recently at Saatchi & Saatchi, where he was oversaw the ad agency's Procter & Gamble account, and worked on ads for such brands as Tide, Olay, Pampers, Head & Shoulders and Ariel. EDF Renewable Energy Sends In Big Wind Turbine Order
San Diego-based EDF Renewable Energy, the big renewable energy developer, says it has placed a big wind turbine order with Vestas, for 160 megawatts of turbines for future wind projects in the United States. Financial details of that order were not announced.
