Dodgers Back Startup Aimed At Real World Interaction
The Los Angeles Dodgers have backed a Silicon Valley startup which says it is developing software to help bring engagement into real world venues and bricks-and-mortars locations. Axiom Materials Gets Funding, Investment
Santa Ana-based Axiom Materials, a developer of advanced composites for the aerospace, defense, automobile, energy, and other industries, is in a recapitalization and investment deal with private equity investor Sorenson Capital. Financial details of the investment and recap were not announced by the companies. General Assembly To Open New Location In Irvine
General Assembly, the provider of technical skills training, which has an active campus in Santa Monica, says it is will be opening up a new location in Irvine. General Assembly said it has not yet finalized the precise location and opening date, but says it will start hosting events and short workshops throughout Irvine ahead of the new location. Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals Raises $45M In PIPE
Pasadena-based Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals, a biopharmaceuticals developer aiming at treating hepatitis and other diseases has raised $45M in a private offering, the company said today. The publicly held firm, which trades as ARWR on the NASDAQ, said the funding came from Orbimed, RA Capital Management, Perceptive Advisors, RTW Investments, and others. OnBoat.co Launches Boat Charter Marketplace
Marina Del Rey-based OnBoat.co says it has launched a new, online boat charter marketplace, aimed at connecting users with boat charters. According to OnBoat.co, it is offering up access to boat rentals in San Francisco, San Diego, Newport Beach, Miami, Cancun, with plans to expand to Hawaii, Australia, and elsewhere. AeroVironment Deploys Drone With U.S. Navy
Monrovia-based AeroVironment has deployed its small, Puma AE unmanned aircraft systems with the U.S. Navy, on the USS Stout, the company said on Thursday. According to AeroVironment, the U.S. Navy has tested and deployed its RQ-20B Puma small unmanned aircraft system (AUS) on the USS Stout, which is a guided missle destroyer. The USS Stout is being used in the Arabian gulf.
