Like Pizza Aims At Mobile App Market
Pasadena-based Like Pizza, founded by veterans of Disney Mobile and THQ Wireless, says it has launched a new digital media studio, which it says will combine games and serialized animation into mobile apps. The startup, led by Jeff Nuzzi and Bob Spang, said it hopes to ship its first mobile app, Bunny Rappid, in 2017. TeleSign Names New CEO
Los Angeles-based mobile security and identity services provider TeleSign said Wednesday morning that it has named Aled Miles as the company's new CEO. Miles was previously at Symantec, most recently serving as Senior Vice President for Symantec's Norton business, Latin America, Global Strategic Accounts, and IoT, Cloud & SaaS Partnerships. Intel To Open New Studio In Hollywood Aimed At VR
Intel CEO Brian Krzanich said on Tuesday that the semiconductor maker will create a new, studio in Hollywood, will will focus on creating 360-degree virtual reality sports and entertainment content, using its technology. According to Krzanich, speaking at an Intel conference in San Francisco, said the new Intel Tech Experience Labs will use its 360 Replay technology as the basis for that virtual reality content. NxGnData Becomes NGD Systems
Irvine-based NxGn Data, a developer of solid state disk drives (SSDs), says it has renamed itself NGD Systems. NGD Systems said the renaming of the company will highlights its system-level capabilities and ability to compete in the storage subsystem market. NGD Systems is led by Nader Salessi, and is targeting the enterprise SSD storage market; the company said its executives have previously worked for such companies as Western Digital, STEC and Memtech.

QLogic Now Part Of Cavium
Aliso Viejo-based storage networking products developer QLogic is now officially part of Cavium, Cavium said on Tuesday, after the $1.36 billion acquisition of QLogic completed. The two companies had announced the deal in June. QLogic was a maker of high speed networking and storage networking devices; Cavium makes networking semiconductors. The sale of QLogic comes two years after the sudden death of founder and Chairman HK Desai, revenue stumbles, and big executive shuffling at the company.

Zadara Wins Document Archiving Firm
Irvine-based cloud storage products developer Zadara Storage reported a win on Tuesday with document archiving company CBM Archives. Financial details of the win were not disclosed. Zadara said that CBM Archives, which serves state and local government agencies, is using the company's VPSA Storage Array and cloud services. Zadara's product supports Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and other cloud storage back ends.

ScaleLab Grows Video Content Network
Los Angeles-based ScaleLab, a multi-channel network which helps Youtube creators with growing their audiences, says it has topped more than 2 billion monthly views, and now has 90,000 online video influencers in its network. According to the company, the growth comes due to international expansion, particularly in Brazil, as a result of a move last year to open an office in Sao Paulo.
