Report: Snapchat Discussing IPO With Bankers, Eyes IPO Next Year
Venice, California-based Snapchat has begun discussing an IPO with bankers, but has yet to select an investment bank to lead the effort, according to a report on Wednesday. Snapchat reportedly is looking at an IPO towards the end of this year or in early 2017. It appears that IPO season has just opened in Southern California's high tech community, with more IPO activity in the last couple of weeks than the region has seen in the last year, including an IPO in the works for Ventura-based The Trad (More info...)

AirMap Adds Real Time Air Traffic Avoidance Data
Santa Monica-based AirMap, which is developing APIs and tools to help drone operators and manufacturers better avoid restricted air space, has linked up with a provider of live flight data to use live, real time air traffic data to avoid airplanes. The Trade Desk Sets IPO Pricing Range
Ventura-based The Trade Desk has set the initial estimated pricing range for its IPO, saying in a filing on Tuesday that it now expects its IPO to be between $14.00 and $16.00 per share. The company is selling 4,666,667 shares of its common stock in the offering. The Trade Desk has applied to list on the NASDAQ Global Market as TTD. The Trade Desk operates an online advertising exchange.

IDrive Launches On Premise, Cloud Backup Appliance
Los Angeles-based online backup and storage provider IDrive has launched a new, on-premise backup appliance, which it says makes it easier for its users to back up their data to the cloud. IDrive said its new IDrive Private Cloud is a 6TB, on premise backup solution, which also includes 6TB of cloud based backup space. VIZIO Launches Whole Home Audio Speaker System
Irvine-based VIZIO announced this morning that it has launched a new set of multi-room speakers, designed for whole home audio. According to VIZIO, the new VIZIO SmartCast Crave Pro and Crave 360 Speakers support Google Cast for audio streaming, and can be controlled by mobile devices through Wi-Fi. The new SmartCast Crave 360 Speakers have a MSRP of $249.99 and the Crave Pro speakers will have a MSRP of $299.99. Western Digital Bumps Expectations
Irvine-based storage developer Western Digital has bumped its financial expectations for its fiscal first quarter, saying that it now expects first quarter revenues of between $4.45 billion to $4.55 billion, up from an earlier forecast of $4.4 billion to $4.5 billion. The company said it is increasing its revenue expectations due to its recent acquisition of SanDisk, plus progress in integrating its WD and HGST subsidiaries, and a better product mix.

Report: Snapchat Nearing 1 Billion In Ad Revenues
A report, published by eMarketer on Tuesday, says that Venice, California-based Snapchat will earn an estimated $1 billion in ad revenues next year. The report predicted that Snapchat will represent 2 percent of social network ad dollars in the US next year. eMarketer said it calculated the ad revenues based on its own revenue model, consumer adoption estimates, monetization trends at similar social networks, and monetization assumptions for different Snapchat ad products. Microsemi Adds To Board
Aliso Viejo-based semiconductor developer Microsemi announced today thatit has named Kimberly Alexy to its board of directors. Alexy serves on the boards of FireEye, Five9, CalAmp, and VIZIO. The company said Alexy has more than 20 years of combined experience, and has chaired audit, compensation, nomination and governance committees at mlutiple publicly traded companies.
