Portfolium Gets $6.6M To Help College Students Find Jobs
San Diego-based Portfolium, a startup which develops a service to help college students provide portfolio of their work to employers, has raised $6.6M in a funding round, the company disclosed on Monday. The funding was led by SFJ Ventures, and also included University Ventures and USA Funds. Portfolium is led by Adam Markowitz.

Coronal Energy Gets Funding From Panasonic
Pasadena-based Coronal Energy, a provider of solar photovoltaic (PV) project development, financing, and operation services for the utility, municipal and corporate market, has scored a strategic investment from Panasonic, the two said this morning. Financial terms of the funding were not disclosed. The two said that, as a result of the investment, Coronal will become Coronal Energy powered by Panasonic. AcuFocus Raises $66M
Irvine-based opthalmic device maker AcuFocus has raised $66M in funding, according to the company. The new funding round was led by KKR. According to AcuFocus, the new funding will go towards accelerating its commercialization plans, and for research and development projects. AcuFocus makes implantable, corneal lenses used to treat presbyopia--or near sightedness--as well as cataracts.

OSI Systems Buys American Science and Engineering For $269M
Hawthorne-based OSI Systems, the developer of X-ray and other screening equipment for the homeland security, defense, aerospace, and healthcare industries, has acquired American Science and Engineering, Inc., in a deal worth $269M. OSI Systems said it paid $37.00 per share in cash and assumed unvested equity for American Science and Engineering. Qualcomm Expands in Shanghai
San Diego-based Qualcomm announced this morning that it has opened up a new, semiconductor test facility in Shanghai, China, as part of its first foray into providing manufacturing services for semiconductors. According to Qualcomm, its new company, Qualcomm Communications Technologies (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. is being formed in conjunction with Amkor Technology, and will offer up semiconductor manufacturing, product engineering, and development. The new facility will start operating on October 18th. ZYXEL Shifts Focus To Channel Sales
Anaheim-based broadband networking, Wi-Fi, Internet access, DSL gateway, and connected home electronics manufacturer Zyxel announced this morning that it has shifted its company and brand to fucos specifically on the channel. According to Zyxel, it is in a complete re-brand which shifts it away from product sales towards channel partners and service providers. MaxLinear Gets Satellite Receiver Design Win
Carlsbad-based MaxLinear, which develops radio frequency (RF) and mixed signal, integrated circuits, has scored a design win with a satellite receiver developer. MaxLinear said its products are being used by the Unitron Group, for a new satellite receiver, used for receiving signals from up to four satellite bands and multicasting up to 32 channels on an IP network.
