Everbridge Raises $90M In IPO, Sees Pop On Market Debut
Everbridge, a developer of emergency notification tools which was founded and still has major operations in both Glendale and Pasadena, has had an IPO, raising $90M for the company and marking another major, SoCal linked technology startup exit in what has been a busy year for deals. Everbridge is now trading on the NASDAQ Global Market as EVBG. Report: Venture Capital Fund Linked To Convicted Felon In Lompoc
A new report, published this morning by Fortune, says that a "new" venture capital fund--announced last week in officially looking press releases--appears to be linked to a convicted inmate, currently imprisoned in Lompoc. Fortune says that Asenqua Ventures--which has official looking, but apparently completely fake entries in Crunchbase, Pitchbook, and other industry databases, plus its own website, does not exist, does not have offices where it claims to be, and also stole the profile photos o (More info...)

Newegg Gets Investment From Hangzhao Liaison Interactive
Los Angeles-based online technology retailer Newegg announced late Thursday that it has received a "significant" investment from Chinese company Hangzhao Liaison Interactive Information Technology Co., Ltd. . Size of the investment was not announced. Newegg said that it will use the new funding for its strategic initiatives, including international expansion, broadened product offerings, and expansion into areas such as eSports, virtual reality, and augmented reality.

ViaSat Powers Tiered Wi-Fi For North Carolina Train Service
Carlsbad-based satellite Internet provider ViaSat is powering a new, onboard Wi-Fi service for North Carolina, on with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Rail Division. According to ViaSat, the department will be bringing new, tiered Wi-Fi service to railway passengers traveling the 174 mile route between Raleigh and Charlotte, North Carolina.
