Urban Airship Taps SoCal Tech Vets For Key Roles
Urban Airship, a startup which develops mobile analytics and engagement software, said today that it has named two executives--both of whom have had prominent roles at Santa Barbara area technology companies. The company--based in Portland--said it named Scott Allen as its CFO, and Eric Holmen as its SVP of Worldwide Sales. Allen had previously been VP and CFO of Citrix Online, which is based in Santa Barbara, in addition to current roles at Intermedia and a prior role in finance at ADP. Holmen (More info...)

ULA Takes Aim At SpaceX Track Record
The United Launch Alliance, the Boeing-Lockheed joint venture which had, until recently, a lock on contracts for national security launches for the Air Force, is taking aim at Hawthorne-based SpaceX. Tinder Backs Vina's Female Networking App
Los Angeles-based dating app developer Tinder said this morning that it has made an investment in Hey! VINA, the developer of a Tinder-like mobile app to help women find friends. Tinder participated as part of a $1.4M, seed funding round, which also included Greylock Partners, New Enterprise Associates, and Wildcat Venture Partners. The Trade Desk Closes Up 67.22 Percent After IPO
Ventura-based The Trade Desk, the online advertising exchange operator, had a huge day on its first trading day on the NASDAQ Global Market, closing up 67.22% on Wednesday, at $30.10 -- well above its debut at $18.00 per share. The company, which is now trading as TTD, was venture backed by IA Ventures, Founder Collective, Wellington Management, and Highwind. The company is led by serial entrepreneur Jeff Green.

Tealium Scores $35M More For Tag Management Software
San Diego-based Tealium has raised $35M more in funding, the company said Wednesday, in what the company described as growth capital. The funding came from all of its existing investors. Tealium, led by Jeff Lunsford, said the funding will go towards its product innovation, accelerating product integration, and expanding its global footprint. NantHealth Deploys Cancer Treatment Tool In Orange County
Culver City-based personalized medicine technology developer NantHealth said yesterday that it has deploed its GPS Cancer product--which is used to help idenity personalized treatments for cancer patients--at the Children's Hospital of Orange County. SetPoint Medical Expands Into New Headquarters
Valencia-based SetPoint Medical, which is developing medical device based treatments for inflammatory disease, said Wednesday that it has moved into a new, 14,000 square foot headquarters, at the Mann Biomedical Park in Valencia. The 25-person company said the new offices double the size of its previous office space in the city. Graphiq, mediaQuant Partner For Media Visualization
Santa Barbara-based data visualization software developer Graphiq, and media measurement provider mediaQuant said on Wednesday that the two are in a new partnership, which will make mediaQuant's data available via Graphiq's visual tools. The two said they will provide real time data for journalists, editors, and researchers looking for interactive visualizations they can embed into content.
