Report: Qualcomm Nears Final $34.7 Billion Bid For NXP Semiconductor
San Diego-based Qualcomm is nearing a deal to buy NXP Semiconductors NV, according to Bloomberg, citing "people familiar with the process. Bloomberg said the deal is rumored to be worth between $110 to $120M in cash a share, or $34.7 billion. Qualcomm has been rumored to be near a deal since the end of September.

TigerText Rolls Out New Communications, Workflow Product

Seriously's New Game Wants To Be Your BFF
Venice-based mobile game developer Seriously has launched a sequel to its immensely popular Best Fiends game, called Best Fiends Forever. The game, which is free to download, is the first sequel to Best Fields, which was launched in October of 2014. Seriously said that Best Fiends is now seeing over two million daily active players. Siemer & Associates Acquired By Chinese Investment Bank
Santa Monica-based investment banking firm Siemer & Associates, which has focused on the technology and media sector, has been acquired by Chinese investor CEC Capital Group. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced. CEC said it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire 100% of Siemer & Associates. BlackLine IPO Expected Next Friday
The IPO of Woodland Hills-based BlackLine Systems, the developer of accounting and financial close software for the enterprise market, looks to be targeted for next Friday, October 28th, according to the NASDAQ IPO Calendar. The IPO date would infer pricing of BlackLine's IPO on Thurday, October 27th. BlackLine systems set its estimated IPO pricing range at between $13.00 and $15.00 per share earlier in the week.

Sonnen Deploys Battery Storage In Vermont
Sonnen, the energy storage and battery technology developer which set up its U.S. headquarters in Los Angeles in January, says it has deployed its products in Vermont, as part of an affordable housing development there. Alteryx Links With Udacity On Predictive Analytics Course
Irvine-based analytics software developer Alteryx said on Wednesday that it has linked up with online education provider Udacity, to offer up a "nanodegree" focused on data science. Marina Del Rey-based TrendShift, a developer of population health management software for the healthcare industry, has acquired the assets of Health Data Intelligence. Health Data Intelligence was a developer of software-as-a-service, offering up healthcare analytics and population health management to employers, benefit advisors, medical managers and payers. AirMap Sets CTO
Santa Monica-based AirMap, which is developing drone mapping and airspace management services for the unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) market, has named Daniel Rubio as the company's Chief Technology Officer. Rubio was most recently CTO of HERE, a mapping company focused on self driving cars. The company said that prior to that, Rubio led development Motorola Droid at Motorola/Google and served at Nokia, working on its Android efforts. Capricor Therapeutics Gets $4.2M Grant
Los Angeles-based Capricor Therapeutics, a biotechnology firm developing treatments for cardiac and other conditions, has been awarded a $4.2M grant from the National Institutes of Health. The company said the grant will go to study CAP-2003 (cardiosphere-derived cell exosomes) for hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). HLHS is a congenital defect of the heart which often results in heart failure. Capricor is led by President and CEO Linda Marban, Ph.D.
