SpaceX Wins $112M Contract From NASA
NASA announced late Tuesday that it has selected Hawthorne-based Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX), for a $112M mission to launch a water survey mission to space in April of 2021. According to NASA, SpaceX will provide launch services for the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission, which is expected to launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base, north of Lompoc. Vrideo Shuts Down Virtual Reality Video Directory App
Los Angeles-based Vrideo, the developer of an app to help virtual reality enthusiasts find VR videos, is shutting down, the company announced on Monday. The company--which says it had raised a total of $2M--had only launched its platform into beta in March of last year. The company said it is shutting down "in light of the rising costs" associated with the company's growth. The company had said it had over 700,000 installs of its VR apps.

Newegg Opens Up Black Friday Deals, Promises More This Week
Los Angeles-based online e-commerce provider Newegg, which focuses on technology products, released its Black Friday deals on Monday, and says it has more deals on tap for both Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The retailer--which actually started its "Black Friday" promotions way back in September--has, like most other online retailers, been releasing its holiday promotions in waves to encourage repeat and return shoppers.

Cubic Gets $4.8M Contract Award
San Diego-based Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS), a unit of systems integrator Cubic Corporation, says it has received a $4.8M contract modification from the Maryland Transit Administration. Cubic said the contract covers an upgrade of the MTA's Automated Fare Collection (AFC) system, including additions to allow the system to accept mobile payments. Cubic provides its services and products to the transportation, defense and military, and other markets.

Yardi Wins Customer In Vancouver
Santa Barbara-based real estate management software developer Yardi reports a customer win in Vancouver, British Columbia, saying that it has signed up Wesgroup Properties to its web-based property management and accounting platform. The financial impact of the win was not announced. Yardi said Wesgroup Properties is using its Yardi Voyager 7S software, and was already a Yardi client. Ixia, Anritsu Deploy With O2 Czech Republic
Calabasas-based network testing hardware and software developer Ixia, and test equipment developer Anritsu A/S said this morning that the two have completed a proof-of-concept deployment for O2 Czech Republic. The company said the proof of concept provided Network Function Virtualization (NFV) monitoring, to help O2 Czech Republic with service level agreement (SLA) monitoring for its customers in virtualized environments.
