In Historic First, SpaceX Launches, Returns Rocket From Space, Again
Hawthorne-based SpaceX has accomplished a historic launch, returning a Falcon 9 rocket to space and successfully landing the rocket on its drone ship in the Pacific. SpaceX is the first organization to launch a rocket and refly a orbital booster to space. Elon Musk, in an interview on SpaceX's broadcast of the flight, said that the orbital booster is the most expensive part of a rocket, and will be "a revolution" in spaceflight. SpaceX Launch Expected This Afternoon
SpaceX, the Los Angeles area rocket and spacecraft developer, is hoping to make history this afternoon, with the (re)launch of a SpaceX Falcon rocket. SpaceX's SES-10 mission will launch a commercial communications satellite into Geostationary Transfer Orbit (GTO), using the same first stage of the Falcon 9 used to launch a payload to the International Space Station in April of last year. Broadcom Sells Brocade's Data Center Business To Extreme
Irvine-based Broadcom is selling the data center switching, routing, and analytics business from Brocade Communications Systems, to Extreme Networks, as a part of Broadcom's $5.9 billion acquisition of Brocade. Extreme Networks said this morning that it will pay $55M in cash, including $35M at close and $20M in deferred payments, plus earnout, for the Brocade unit. Report: Vizio Acquisition By LeEco May Be At Risk
The record, $2 billion acquisition of Irvine-based TV maker Vizio has hit some serious turbulence, with reports saying that the deal may be abandoned or cancelled, due to issues China's recent restriction of moving capital overseas. Those same currency controls have been tamping down sales of mansions in San Gabriel valley to Chinese buyers, and according to local investors have put a serious damper on EB-5 visa investments in both local funds and startups.

Procore Releases Two New Cloud Products
Carpinteria-based construction software developer Procore Technologies has launched two, brand new cloud-based software products to the market, Procore Construction Financials and Procore Quality & Safety, according to the company. Qualcomm Powers New Samsung Galaxy S8
San Diego-based Qualcomm is powering the newly announced Samsung Galaxy S8, Qualcomm said on Wednesday. Samsung is using Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, according to Qualcomm, which features its Qualcomm TruSignal adaptive antenna tuning technology, an integrated Snapdragon X16 LTE modem, and which is roughly 35 percent smaller and which consumes 25 percent less power than the company's last generation of chips. ACADIA Pharmaceuticals Names New Chief Commercial Officer
San Diego-based biopharmaceuticals developer ACADIA Pharmaceuticals announced this morning that it has named Michael J. Yang as the company's new Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer. Yang replaces former Chief Commercial Officer Terrence O. Moore, who the company says is retiring.
