Tech Coast Angels, Pasadena Angels Among Top Angel Groups In New Report
A new report, released by the Angel Resource Institute in the last week, has spotlighted the Tech Coast Angels and the Pasadena Angels as among the top four angel groups in California, and the Tech Coast Angeles as number two in the nation in terms of the number of deals in 2016. The rankings were released in the Angel Resource Insitute's 2016 ARI HALO Report. The Keiretsu Forum was ranked number one in the nation in terms of deal activity in 2016 overall. Hyundai Links With Mitu On Latino Youth Outreach
Los Angeles-based mitu, the Latino-focused online content developer backed by Upfront Ventures, WPP, AwesomenessTV, and Verizon Ventures, said on Monday that has linked up with Hyundai Motor America, to launch a new digital series called "What's Good in your Hood". Hulu, NBCUniversal In Live TV Distribution Deal
Santa Monica-based Hulu and NBCUniversal announced this morning that they are in a new, distribution agreement, which will add NBC and Telemundo Owned Television Stations to Hulu's new live TV service, when it launches later this spring. Financial details of the deal were not announced. According to the two, the deal includes access to NBC, Telemundo, USA, Syfy, Bravo, E!, MSNBC, CNBC, NBCSN, and others, and will bring Hulu's total channels in its lineup to more than 50.

Fandango Hosts Al Gore For Screening In LA
Los Angeles-based online movie site Fandango is hosting former U.S. Vice President Al Gore at a screening of the film, An Inconvenient Sequel, at LA's Greek Theater this week, the company announced this morning. Fandango said Gore will be joined by actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt for a screening and Q&A about the film, which tackles the changes that have taken place since Gore's documentary, An Inconvenient Truth. Simulations Plus Acquires DILIsym Services
Lancaster, California-based Simulations Plus, which develops pharmaceutical simulation and modeling software, has acquired DILIsym Services, a developer of drug-induced liver injury simulation software and related consulting services to the pharmaceutical industry. Simluations Plus said it will pay $10M in total, split between $5M up front plus earn out of up to an additional $5M over the next three years based on profitability of its new DILIsym Services division. SpaceX Launches U.S. Military Payload, Successfully Lands Rocket
Hawthorne-based SpaceX has delivered another payload into space, this time, a secretive mission for the U.S. military. SpaceX launched the NROL-76 this morning a little after 7:00 a.m. EDT, delivering the NROL-76 to orbit from Complex 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. SpaceX also successfully landed the first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket, this time on land, also in Florida at Landing Zone 1 (LZ-1) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

Tinder Shuts Down Access To Scraped Facial Data
Los Angeles-based Tinder has shut down access to a trove of facial images which had been scraped from the service using its API, after the data was uploaded to online data site Kaggle over the weekend. A data scientist apparently had scraped 40,000 faces from the dating service for use in developing artificial intelligence software. It appears that the data has now been removed from Kaggle. Kyriba Expands In Southern Europe
Kyriba, which develops cloud-based treasury management software, and was founded in San Diego, said over the weekend that it is in an expansion in Southern Europe, particularly in Italy and Spain. The company said it is developing a network of reseller partners in the area, and recently has been seeing growth in Italy and Spain. Zyxel Launches SMB VPN Firewall
Anaheim-based Zyxel has launched a new firewall for the small- and medium-sized business market this morning, aimed at connecting headquarters and multiple branch offices. According to Zyxel, its new USG2200-VPN VPN Firewall provides VPN connections, combined with anti-spam, content filtering, hotspot management, and device high availability features.
