SpaceX Puts Another Payload Into Space
SpaceX, the Los Angeles rocket and spacecraft developer run by Elon Musk, has put another payload into space, in what is the heaviest payload for the Falcon 9 to date. SpaceX launched the Inmarsat-5 Flight 4 commercial satellie ino geosationary orbit from NASA's Kennedy Space Center, sending 13,448 pounds of payload into orbit around the Earth. SpaceX Attempting Launch On Monday Afternoon
Hawthorne-based SpaceX is getting set to launch another Falcon 9 into space this afternoon, from NASA's Kennedy Space Center, with a launch window opening up at 4:21 p.m. PST. The launch of the Inmarsat-5 Flight 4 mission, will launch a commercial communications satellite into geostationary orbit. Truepic Finds $1.75M
San Diego-based Truepic, a company developing mobile apps which help to certify that images--such as those for real estate, car rentals, home rentals, and online dating--have not been modified or altered before uploading, has raised $1.75M in a seed funding round. Scientist.com Gets $24M
San Diego-based Scientist.com, a startup which operates a marketplace for outsourced research, has raised $24M in a funding round, the company announced Monday morning. The funding came from Leerink Transformation Partners (LTP) and 5AM Ventures along with Heritage Provider Network, Bootstrap Ventures and Jack Giarraputo, a Hollywood producer. Kyocera Gets Manufacturing Certification In San Diego
Kyocera International said today that its semiconductor assembly services in San Diego have received a new certification, specifically covering the packaging of products for space applications. According to Kyocera, it received Class Y certification for its semiconductor assembly services in San Diego, which certifies ceramic non-hermetic semiconductor packages for use in space applications. Yardi Gets Win In Dubai
Goleta-based property management software developer Yardi has signed up a new customer in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with property development and real estate services firm Deyaar Development PJSC. Yardi said that Deyaar is using its Yardi Voyager 7S software to perform lease and property management across its project portfolio. Financial details of the customer win were not announced.

Western Digital Requests Arbitration With Toshiba Over JV
Western Digital said on Sunday that its several of its SanDisk subsidiaries have requested arbitration with the ICC International Court of Arbitration related to three NAND flash-memory joint ventures it operates with Toshiba Corporation. According to WD, the arbitration is seeking an order requiring Toshiba to unwind the transfer to Toshiba Memory. Transphorm Gets Design Win
Goleta-based Transphorm, which is developing gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductors, reported a design win fo its components this morning. According to Transphorm, the first ever, AC-DC power supply using its GaN FETs has just been announced. The new power supply was developed by Bel Power Solutions, a power supply which Transphorm says has greater than 96 percent efficiency. Shipment volumes on the new supplies were not announced. YayYo Joins Ridesharing Fray In Los Angeles
Los Angeles-based YayYo, a new startup in the ridesharing space, said last week that it has launched its own fleet of vehicles in Los Angles county. YayYo said it specifically launched to counter the daily surge pricing from such services as Uber and Lyft, and that its rides will come from a "professionally trained driver" and such features as onboard security cameras in brand new vehicles.
