Report: Uber Eyes Luxe's Technical Team
Ridesharing service Uber is looking to acquire the technical team behind Luxe, the luxury car parking startup backed by LA's Upfront Ventures, according to the WSJ. The WSJ said the "acqhire" is focused on part of Luxe's engineering team, rather than the whole company. StartEngine Chalks Up 25 Companies Raising Funding Since Start Of 2017
Los Angeles-based StartEngine, the equity crowdfunding service run by serial entrepeneur Howard Marks, has chalked up 25 companies raising money on its platform since the start of 2017, according to the company. According to Marks, StartEngine has had five companies raise $1,000,000 and 21 more raise an average $300,000 since the start of 2017. Obsidian Security Gets $9.5M
Newport Beach-based Obsidian Security, a new startup led by a group of cybersecurity veterans from Cylance, Carbon Blank, and the NSA, has raised $9.5M in a Series A funding, the company announced Thursday morning. The funding was led by Greylock Partners. LA Cleantech Incubator Names LA Sustainability Chief As Next CEO
The Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI), the nonprofit which has been working to boost the number of clean technology startups and companies in Los Angeles, said yesterday that it has named Matt Petersen--currently Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) for the City of Los Angeles--as its next President and CEO. Inseego Aborts MiFi Sale, Launches Major Restructuring
San Diego-based Inseego, the developer of the MiFi wireless hotspots, has aborted its plans to sell off its MiFi division to Chinese company TCL Industries Holdings (H.K.) Limited, and has embarked on a massive restructuring of the company. Xencor Names New VP
Monrovia, California-based biopharmaceuticals developer Xencor announced today that it has named Raphael Clynes, M.D., Ph.D., as its new Vice President of Translational Biology. Clynes was most recently Group Medical and Scientific Director of Immunology-oncology at Bristol-Myers Squib, was co-founder of Vixen Pharmaceuticals, and was an associate professor at Columbia University. Esri Links With Idaho National Laboratory
