SkySafe Takes $11.5M More For Drone Defense Systems
San Diego-based SkySafe, a developer of anti-drone technology, said on Thursday that it has raised $11.5M in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz. SkySafe said that Lars Dalgaard of Andreessen Horowitz joins the company's board with the funding. In addition to the funding round, SkySafe says it has also received a $1.5M contract with the Department of Defense, to provide counter-UAS systems to Naval Special Warfare units. EVgo Opens 950th Fast Charging Location
Los Angeles-based EVgo which operations a national network of public, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, said it has opened up its 950th, U.S. fast charging station in New Jersey. According to EVgo, the new station is located on the New Jersey Turnpike, and was installed in an effort with New Jersey gas and electric utility Public Service Electric and Gas Co. (PSE&G). YouTube TV Expands Into Ten New Markets
YouTube is expanding its subscription YouTube TV service into ten new markets, the company is announcing today. According to YouTube, the service has expanded into Washington, DC, Houston, Atlanta, Phoenix, Detroit, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando-Daytona Beach-Melbourne and Charlotte, as well as Dallas-Forth Worth. GraphIQ Acquired By Amazon.com
Santa Barbara-based GraphIQ, the visualization software developer led by technology veteran Kevin O'Connor, has quietly been acquired by Amazon.com, it emerged today. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. GraphIQ, which was founded by FindTheBest, will become part of Amazon.com's Alexa efforts. EncompaaS Sets U.S. Offices In Irvine
EncompaaS, an Australians developer of enterprise data safety and compliance software, said on Wednesday that it has set up a U.S. office in Irvine, as part of a plan to enter the U.S. market this year According to EncompaaS, which is based in Sydney, it is developing a cloud compliance solutions for regulated industries, based on HPE Content Manager and deployed on Microsoft Azure.

Aspyrian Therapeutics Raises $15.1M
San Diego-based Aspyrian Therapeutics, a biopharmaceuticals startup focused on precision-targeted cancer therapy, has raised $15.1M in a Series B-1 funding. The company said the funding came from private investors, including Hiroshi Mikitani, the CEO of Rakuten Inc. The company said it expects the round will reach $19M in total in the next few months. Imprimis Pharmaceuticals Gets $16M In Debt Funding
San Diego-based Imprimis Pharmaceuticals, the publicly held, ophthalmology pharmaceuticals developer, said it has received $16M in a senior secured non-dilutive term loan agreement from SWK Funding LLC. The company said the new funding will go to retire an existing, $13M term loan it has with Life Sciences Alternative Funding LLC, and also will go to provide additional working capital to the company. Spireon Wins International Fleet Operator
Irvine-based telematics provider Spireon said this morning that it has signed an international fleet operator, RJ & Sons LLC, as a new customer. According to Spireon, RJ & Sons LLC provides specialized logistics to customers across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, with a fleet of specialized trailers. Spireon said RJ & Sons, in particular, is looking to gain greater visibility into its assets as they travel across the Canadian and Mexican borders, to help prevent tampering to their trailers.
