Ground Control Aims At Voice Activated Entertainment, Backed By CAA
Los Angeles- and Vancouver-based Ground Control, a new startup led by LA technology veteran Mike Macadaan, said on Wednesday that it has launched with the backing of the Creative Artists Agency. Clearlake Capital Sells Syncsort, Vision Solutions For $1.26 Billion
Irvine-based private equity investor Clearlake Capital has sold two enterprise software companies it owns, Syncsort Incorporated and Vision Solutions, to fellow private equity investor Centerbridge Partners, in a deal worth $1.26 billion. According to the two companies, Centerbridge maintains a minority ownership in the combined company. Clearlake Capital acquired Syncsort in 2015. Syncsort is based in Pearl River, New York.

Mojiit Adds Apple Co-Founder Wozniak As Advisor
Los Angeles-based emoji startup Mojiit said on Wednesday that it has added Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak as an advisor to the company. Mojiiit--which has yet to launch its product--says it is developing 3D "hologram emojis" which can be projected and shared via smartphone. The startup is led by Jeremy Greene. NextGen Healthcare Completes EagleDream Acquisition
Irvine-based NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, which is owned by Quality Systems, says it has completed its previously announced acquisition of EagleDream Health, a software analytics developer. Financial details of the buy have not been announced. EagleDream Health, based in Rochester, New York, develops cloud-based analytics software used for healthcare practice administration and optimization.
