Purchases are up 24 percent year-to-year, from last year's $13.16B in sales for the holiday season. Spending for the week ending December 18th rose 29 percent over the corresponding week last year. comScore is estimating that consumer spending on retail goods at US Internet sites will exceed $19B for the Nov/Dec holiday season. The firm commented that last minute promotions and discounted in-time shipping allowed consumers to extend their online purchases to later in the season.
