PacketVideo Acquires Media Server Firm

San Diego-based PacketVideo, a developer of multimedia software for mobile phones, said today it has acquired TwonkyVision GmbH, a Berlin-based maker of media server software. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. TwonkyVision is the maker of software for embedded devices, including set-top boxes and personal recorders. TwonkyVision is a spinout of the Fraunhofer Institute. TwonkyVision's Berlin headquarters will become PacketVideo Germany.
