Pioneer Rolls Out Blu-Ray For PCs
Pioneer's Long Beach-based US headquarters said late last week that it is rolling out Blu-ray Disc computer drives, the first Blu-ray compatible PC drives on the market. The company's new Blu-ray compatible drives will be targeted at professional users, and will support creation and recording of digital data to the new Blu-ray Disc standard. Pioneer's is the first foray of a next generation DVD standard into the PC arena, and comes as rival HD-DVD and Blu-ray have continued to fight over who will be the next standard for next generation DVDs. Blu-ray is supported by Sony Corp, Apple, and Dell, and rival HD-DVD is supported by Toshiba, Intel, and Microsoft.
