QLogic Rumored As Acquisition Target
Aliso Viejo-based QLogic, a developer of host bus adapters and switches for the storage networking market, is rumored to be the target of an acquisition by data storage giant EMC, according to Barron's. The unsubstantiated rumor comes a week after Broadcom launched a hostile bid for competing Irvine-based storage networking hardware maker Emulex. Both QLogic and Emulex provide host bus adapters (HBAs) and other similar hardware used for data storage networking; the two serve many of the same customers, including storage providers like EMC. QLogic was spun out from Emulex in the early 90's.
