    Qualcomm Buys Mobile UI Firm For $36M


    San Diego-based Qualcomm has made another acquisition, this time of UK-based Trigenix, a provider of mobile phone user interfaces. The acquisition was worth approximately $36M in cash. Qualcomm said that it will use the Trigenix User Interface (UI) technology to extend the company's BREW client software for the European wireless community. BREW is Qualcomm's develop environment for next generation phones. According to Qualcomm, by adding Trigenix the development environment will add the ability to customize address books, menus, navigation, color schemes, and icon styles. The company's BREW software also allows for over the air updates to update the software after deployment.
