Qualcomm Plans Up To $975M Investment In Taiwan Plant

San Diego-based Qualcomm MEMS Technologies, a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, announced this morning that it has reached a deal with the Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs, to construct a new fabrication facility in the country. Qualcomm said it expects to invest up to $975M in the facility, which will manufacture the firm's Mirasol brand displays. The new factory is expected to be operational in 2012. The new facility will be located in the Hsinchu Science Park.
