QUALCOMM Teams With Opera Browser

San Diego-based QUALCOMM and browser company Opera Software announced that the two companies are collborating on adding conextual shopping capabilities to Opera's mobile Web browser and QUALCOMM's BREW development environment. Opera will provide contextual shopping capabilities for wireless operators, giving users an opportunity to download and buy applications, ringtones, wallpapers, and skins on BREW-enabled cell phones. The two companies said that the features might be used to allow a basketball fan to download basketball wallpaper, or a game, or other related items when checking on latest scores. Opera focuses on provoding cross-platform browser capabilities, and powers the layout engine for Adobe and Macromedia in their GoLive and DreamWeaver products, in addition to providing smart phone and PDA browser technology.
