Qualcomm Wins Pharmaceuticals Firm
San Diego-based Qualcomm says that its technology has been adopted by pharmaceuticals developer Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, as part of an inhaler for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). According to Qualcomm, it is working to develop a connectivity product for Boehringer's RESPIMAT inhaler, which collects information and transmits that wirelessly to health care providers. That data is being used to help improve adherence to treatment plans for those patients. Financial impact of the win was not announced.
