REAL D Deploys Digital 3-D Film
Los Angeles-based REAL D said this morning that it has reached a five-year licensing deal with 24 theater circuits in the United States, Canada, and Mexico for installment of its digital 3-D content. The firm, which is powering the launch of the 3-D presentation of Disney's upcoming "Chicken Little" feature, will offer feature presentations in its 3D format starting in November. REAL D has developed a 3-D projection system that uses special projection lenses along with glasses to display 3-D movie images. The deal includes AMC Theatres, Century Theateres, Loews Cineplex Entertainment, Regal Entertainment Group and others. REAL D also provides stereoscopic technologies to the science industry and customers such as NASA, Pfizer, and BMW.
