Report: Ring Being Acquired By Amazon For Around $1 Billion

Santa Monica-based Ring is being acquired by e-commerce giant Amazon, according to yet-unconfirmed reports. The deal is reportedly worth around $1 billion. Ring, founded by Jamie Siminoff, makes a very popular line of video doorbells, which allow people to see and talk to people at their door. Details of the acquisition, and confirmation of any acquisition, were not yet announced. If true, the acquisition would make Ring the second, "smart doorbell" camera company that Amazon has acquired in the last six months; Amazon acquired Blink, one of Ring's big competitors, in November.
