Retention Science Snags $7M

Santa Monica-based Retention Science, the marketing software technology maker led by Jerry Jao, has snagged $7M in a Series A funding, according to the company. The new funding was led by Upfront Ventures, and also included Baroda Ventures, Forerunner Ventures and Mohr Davidow Ventures. Angels Brian Lee (Honest Company, LegalZoom), Michael Dubin (Dollar Shave Club), Tamim Mourad (PriceGrabber.com) and Andy Dunn (Bonobos) also participated in the funding. Retention Science said it will accelerate hiring with the funding, and plans to double its employee base by the end of the year. Retention Science develops marketing software to help online retailers re-engage customers, applying big data and predictive algorithms to analyze the individual behavior of visitors to online retailers' sites.
