RFaxis Debuts New Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Chips

Irvine-based semiconductor developer RFaxis announced this morning that it has begun volume production on a new single chip/single-die Wi-Fi/Bluetooth combo RF front end IC. The company, which develops RF chips in low cost CMOS, said its new chip is aimed at the smartphone market. The company said its new product provides more functionality at a much lower cost than existing RF ICs. RFaxis develops a line of CMOS-based RF chips, which take advantage of the cheaper manufacturing costs of CMOS versus more exotic semiconductor materials. The firm said its RFX8422S chip provides key RF functions for dual-mode Wi-Fi/Bluetooth operation in a typical smartphone or other mobile devices. RFaxis is led by Mike Neshat.
