RightScale Lands $13M

Santa Barbara-based RightScale said today that it has raised $13M, in a second round for the cloud computing software firm. According to RightScale, the round was led by Index Ventures, and also included prior investor Benchmark Capital. Danny Rimer of Index joins the board as part of the funding. RightScale is developing a cloud computing software platform based on Amazon's web services; the firm's product allows users to manage and deploy servers. The firm said the funding will go to accelerate product and market development for its products, including an effort to expand into new geographic markets. The new round brings the company's total funding raised to $17.5M, including an earlier round this year led by Benchmark. More information »
