Ring Under Fire Again For Cozy Police Relationship

Santa Monica-based doorbell and security camera maker Ring is under fire again from privacy and civil rights advocates, for providing a "street level" view of locations of its cameras to local police departments. According to a report from CNET, police departments that have been partnered with Ring had access to a "heat map" of Ring camera locations, down to the street level, to assist those departments in determining where they might be able to request video related to investigations. Privacy advocates are alarmed at the prospect of "constant surveillance" of the public, despite the usefulness of those cameras in investigating crimes.
