Rippol Launches Video Discovery Service
San Diego-based Rippol, a new startup looking to help people discovery and find online videos, is launching today at the TechCrunch Real-Time CrunchUp in San Francisco. The new site uses social networking features, including links to Facebook and Twitter, to help users find and discover video based on information from friends and family. Rippol said its algorithm--which is it billing the "Butterfly Effect Network"--uses advanced machine learning to rank videos that a users has watches, rates, or reviewed and cross references them to what a users'a friends and demographic has been watching. Rippol is headed by Aaron Crayford, who was former CEO of the Vusion Content Delivery Network.
