    Row 44 Raises $21M

Westlake Village-based Row 44, which is developing broadband systems for the commercial aviation market, said today that it has raised $21M in a round of equity investment. The round was led by PAR Capital Management. Row 44 is developing easy-to-install WiFi equipment for commercial airliners, which uses existing commercial satellite networks for connectivity; the firm's hardware is currently in trials with Alaska Airlines and Southwest Airlines. Row 44 said the new funding will be used to expand the firm's operations, to facilitate global rollout of the firm's systems. Row 44 is headed by John Guidon, who founded Comcore Semiconductor, which he sold to National Semiconductor for $150M in 1998.
