Rubicon Project Powers New, Digital Billboards For Clear Channel

Los Angeles-based advertising marketplace operator Rubicon Project is powering the ad marketplace for a network of out-of-home, outdoors billboards owned by Clear Channel Outdoor Americas, Clear Channel announced on Wednesday. According to Clear Channel Outdoor Americas, it has launched a nationwide, programmatic buying solution which makes its digital billboard inventory available to programmatic ad buyers. The new solution uses Rubicon Project's infrastructure and marketplace software. The move looks to be the first time Rubicon's programmatic ad system has been used outside of the more traditional Internet and mobile ad areas. According to Clear Channel, the new offering gives buyers access to 1,000 digital billboards, across 25 of CCOA's 29 digital markets. The two said they created the new offering "from the ground up". Financial details of the deal between Rubicon Project and Clear Channel were not announced by the companies. The two also said they plan to launch a similar programmatic solution for the European market, with launch in January of 2017.
