Samsung Looks To Hollywood For Mobile Revenues, Says Report
Samsung Electronics is kicking off an effort to make short form, mobile video the center of a new revenue model, according to report, in a new effort headed by John Pleasants. Pleasants--who has served at Walt Disney managing its mobile and gaming services, and also had been CEO of Ticketmaster--apparently joined Samsung in June as Executive Vice President of Media Solutions. Samsung has not yet announced details of the new, mobile video effort, but has apparently devoted "tens of millions of dollars" to the new video effort, codenamed "Volt".
