Schrodinger Gets Investment From Bill Gates

Schrodinger, a firm focused on computational drug design for the pharmaceuticals and biotechnology research industry, announced today that Bill Gates--through his investment firm, Cascade Investment--has invested in the company. The firm, which has one of its main offices in San Diego, did not disclose financial terms of the deal, however Bill Gates told the WSJ this week that the deal was worth $10M. Schrodinger designs software used for chemical simulation for pharmaceutical and biotechnology research, which it says is used by nearly every major pharmaceutical firm worldwide, plus the government, smaller firms, and academia. Schrodinger is spread between Portland, New York, San Diego, and Cambridge, Massachusetts. More information »
