Second Sight Medical Deploys In France

Sylmar-based Second Sight Medical Products, which is developing implantable medical devices to help treat outer retinal degeneration, said it has implanted its first devices in France. According to the company, three of the centers approved to implant its Argus II Retinal Prosthesis System have done so in France, under that country's national healthcare reimbursement program. Second Sight's medical device treats patients with retinitis pigmentosa (RP). Second Sight Medical said taht RP often results in nearly complete blindness, and affects roughly 24,000 French people. Second Sight Medical is led by Dr. Robert Greenberg.
