Semtech Acquires RFIC Design Firm
Camarillo-based Semtech announced this morning that it is acquiring XEMICS, a fabless semiconductor firm specializing in ultra low power RF, analog, and digital IC designs. XEMICS is based in Switzerland, and has 77 employees. The deal is worth $43M in cash and an additional $16M in earn out. XEMICS is a spin out of the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM) and provides expertise in low-power, low-voltage designs to sensor interfacing/data acquisition, RISC microcontrollers, RF transceivers, and audio codecs aimed at highly integrated battery powered wireless and sensing applications. The firm had sales of $23M in 2004.
