Semtech Powers New IoT Tracker For Alibaba

Camarillo-based analog and mixed signal semiconductor developer Semtech has scored another design win for its LoRa wireless tracking devices, this time with Chinese Internet giant Alibaba. Semtech said that Alibaba Cloud has released a new Internet-of-Things (IoT) location tracker, which is based on Semtech's LoRa devices and LoRaWAN protocol. The new Beagle tracker provides tracking of assets, for such things as personnel and asset management, small device loss, theft prevention, and enhanced pet and child monitoring, according to the companies. Alibaba Cloud said its new "Beagle" tracker provides up to 2,000 meters of point-to-point location tracking indoor or outdoor, GPS-free, and does not require base stations, cellular networks, cloud services, or Internet connectivity.
