SKY MobileMedia, Sun Microsystems Collaborate On Java Phones
San Diego-based SKY MobileMedia, a provider of application software for wireless phones, said yesterday that it has inked an agreement with Sun Microsystems to extend its software into mobile Java. SKY will integrate a Java technology client for mobile phones on Java technology licensed from Sun. The new SKY-VM product will be Java Technology for the Wireless Industry (JTWI) compliant, and will be offered in Q3 of this year. SKY develops integrated mobile applications that run across a wide range of mobile phone platforms. The company's aimn is to reduce time-to-market for cell phone manufacturers looking to implement handset applications and features.
