    Smith Micro Acquires Animation Titles


    Aliso Viejo-based software publisher Smith Micro said Wednesday that it has inked a deal to acquire several 3D graphic and animation packages from e frontier. According to Smith Micro, it will pay $6M in cash in an asset deal for the rights to Poser, Anime Studio, and Manga Studio, three titles for the computer animation and 3D modeling market. According to Smith Micro, it expects the deal to be immediately accretive on close, and that e frontier had total revenues in excess of $7M for its fiscal year ending March 2007. The deal also includes rights to Aquazone, the popular aquarium-focused screen saver and software package. Poser is used for 3D figure design; Anime Studio is used for creating Japanese-style anime and cartoons; and Manga Studio for creating Manga-style comics.
