Snapchat Buys Looksery To Make You Look Thinner, More Attractive

Venice, California-based instant messaging app developer Snapchat launched a new feature, "Lenses" Tuesday, allowing users to overlay cute selfie filters and overlays on snaps. The new feature comes courtesy of the acquisition of Looksery, a developer of facial recognition tools, which develops a selfie filter tool which modify how you look on screen, including filters to make you look thinner and more attractive. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced, but the deal has been reported to be worth around $150M. Looksery was based in San Francisco.
