Snapchat Hit By Phishing Attack, Employees Compromised

Venice, California-based Snapchat said over the weekend that a number of its employees have had their identities compromised, after one of its employees feel for a phishing scam, and revealed payroll information about a number of its employees. According to Snapchat, the phishing came from an email phishing scam last Friday, where someone impersonated the company's CEO, Evan Spiegel, asking for some payroll information. Snapchat said that its payroll department fell for the scam, and released information on both current and former employees. Snapchat said no user information was compromised in the phishing attack, which it says it reported to the FBI.
