Solarflare Gains Patent

Irvine-based Solarflare has scored a new patent, the firm said Monday, covering the firm's 10 gigabit Ethernet semiconductors. According to Solarflare, it was granted patent 7,460,662 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, one of 12 patents granted so far to the firm. The patent was issued December 2, according to the US Patent and Trademark Office, and names Chris Pagnanelli as inventor; the firm filed the patent exactly 4 years to the date of filing, on December 2, 2004. Solarflare is a developer of 10 gigabit Ethernet chips, used for sending high speed networking signals over copper. The company most recently scored a round of funding from Oak Investment Partners, Foundation Capital, Accel Partners and Amadeus Capital Partners.
