SolarReserve Gets Approval For 260MW Chilean Energy Plant

Los Angeles-based utility-scale solar power developer SolarReserve said last week that it has received environmental approval for a huge, 260MW solar energy plant in Chile. According to SolarReserve, the Chilean government approved the Copiapo Solar Project, whichi s epxected to go into commercial operation in 2019. The solar power project is based on SolarReserve's current Crescent Dunes project here in the US. The new plant uses both molten salt, thermal energy storage and concentrating solar power technology, in addition to more traditional photovoltaic panels. SolarReserve is led by Kevin Smith.
