SolSource Energy Acquired By SolarCity

Culver City-based SolSource Energy, a installer of solar power systems owned by Clean Fuel Connection, Inc., has been acquired by Bay Area solar installer SolarCity, SolarCity said Thursday afternoon. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Jim Cahill, who was co-owner of SolSource Energy, joins SolarCity as Regional Operating Director in Southern California. According to SolarCity, the move comes as it is expanding its EV charging installation operations; Cahill previously was at Edison EV, which installed electric vehicle infrastructure for Southern California Edison, and oversaw installation of more than 2,000 charging stations for electric vehicles for SCE. SolarCity said that it is the primary installer of electric vehicle charging stations for electric car firm Tesla Motors. As part of the acquisition, SolarCity also said it has assumed responsibility for distribution of electric vehicle chargers for Toyota Tsusho, a business SolSource Energy gained in 2001.
