Sonos Ships New Products, Looks To Shake Start-Up Label

Santa Barbara-based Sonos said today that the firm has started shipping its second generation of its music systems. Sonos--whose high end music systems allow you to stream digital music to different rooms in your house--has introduced a new amplifier, a new bundle, and a new look and feel to the firm's brand. The firm said that the new branding is a move beyond its product focus; Sonos said it has moved from a start-up to a "small, yet quickly growing competitor in the home audio business." The firm's new amplifier shrinks the size of its Zoneplayer and adds more power, plus doubles the wireless range for the device; the firm has also upgraded its software and bundle options. The firm's new products include the ZP120, an amplifier enabled controller which replaces the firm's ZP100 product; and the ZP90, which does not include an amplifier but can be used to stream music into existing music systems.
