Sony Pictures Ties With Amazon's LOVEFiLM

Culver City-based Sony Pictures has inked a multi-year, content streaming deal with LOVEFiLM, the European online movie streaming service owned by Amazon.com. According to the two companies, the deal provides exclusive streaming access to new and forthcoming Sony Pictures titles, as well as to catalog titles and TV Series, beginning in June of 2012. Financial details of the content deal were not disclosed. Amazon LOVEFiLM said access to the Sony titles will be included at no extra cost with existing subscriptions. The two said titles will be available during the second subscription pay TV window for LOVEFiLM subscribers. Amazon's LOVEFiLM provides DVD rentals, game rentals, and online streaming in Europe, in a model similar to Netflix in the U.S.
