SpaceX Gets Approval For Spy Satellite Launches

Hawthorne-based SpaceX has gained approval to launch secretive U.S. spy satellites into orbit, which will give the space launch firm an advantage in the gaining contracts for the Space Force. According to reports, the move may give SpaceX a "temporary edge" over Boeing-Lockheed in launching top secret spy satellites into space, as the Boeing-Lockheed joint venture, United Launch Alliance, still is awaiting certification for their own satellite launch platform, which is based on rockets from Blue Origin, the space venture of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. ULA had previously been using Russian made rockets.
