SpaceX Hits Another Milestone

Hawthorne-based SpaceX, the commercial rocket firm run by Elon Musk, said this morning that it has hit another milestone on its Dragon Spacecraft. The firm said it has conducted a three-day long demonstration of cargo loading and unloading procedures for NASA, one of the milestones needed to meet requirements for its NASA contract. NASA has contracted SpaceX to deliver cargo to the Internation Space Station, starting sometime this year. SpaceX gained the NASA Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (COTS) program contract in December of 2008. The company is backed by Musk, as well as Founders Fund and Draper Fisher Jurvetson.
