SpaceX Installs Murphy as Marketing, Communications VP

Space Exploration Technologies Corp., a developer of manned and unmanned launch vehicles for space exploration, reported Thursday that it has hired Diane Murphy as vice president of marketing and communications. The Hawthorne, Calif.-based company, also known as SpaceX, said the newly created position's responsibilities include strategic planning, media relations, advertising, video and Web content, exhibits and trade shows, community affairs, event management and serving as company spokesperson. SpaceX said Murphy joins the company after directing communications for Northrop Grumman Corp.'s Space Technology Sector. Prior to that, she served as vice president of communications for EADS North America. She has also enjoyed stints as executive vice president of the X PRIZE Foundation and as chairman and chief executive officer of Federal City Communications, SpaceX noted.
